However, if you are facing drug charges in federal court, all federal drug offenses definitions and penalties  are described in the United States Code (U.S.C.).

Federal Drug Offenses Definitions

Controlled Substance. Federal law defines a controlled substance as a drug listed in one of five schedules listed under Title 21 of the U.S.C. Section 812. Ref: 21 U.S.C. § 812.

Drug Possession. Federal law defines Drug Possession as knowingly or intentionally possessing a controlled substance.  The law excludes people authorized to possess drugs; for example, people with a valid prescription or medical license. Ref: 21 U.S.C. § 844.

Drug Trafficking. Federal law defines Drug Trafficking as knowingly or intentionally manufacturing, distributing, or dispensing a controlled substance or counterfeit controlled substance. This includes possession with the intent to traffic controlled substances or their counterfeits. Ref: 21 USC § 841.

Drug Conspiracy. Federal law defines a Drug Conspiracy as an agreement to violate drug laws that the accused person knowingly and intentionally joined and participated in.
