Dublin Mayor's Court Schedule

Court nights shall be normally scheduled every Tuesday night as follows:

  • Arraignments at 5:00 p.m.
  • Pleas at 5:30 p.m.
  • Trials at 6:30 p.m.

Additional times are scheduled on an as-needed basis:

  • Pre-trials with the Prosecutor: Mondays at 2:30 p.m.
  • Diversion Hearings: Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m.
  • Vehicle Release Hearings and ALS Hearings: Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

Prisoner Hearings follows the schedule below on an as-needed basis:

  • If you are arrested on Friday after 7:00 a.m. through Monday at 7:00 a.m., your arraignment date and time is Monday at 8:00 a.m.
  • If you are arrested on Monday after 7:00 a.m. through Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., your arraignment date and time is Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
  • If you are arrested on Tuesday after 2:00 p.m. through Friday at 7:00 a.m., your arraignment date and time is Friday at 8:30 a.m.

Dublin Mayor's Court Trial Procedures

The alleged offender can plead one of the following three ways during his or her arraignment:

  • Guilty Plea: the plea of Guilty is a complete admission of the Defendant’s guilt, so you are stating that you are at fault for the alleged crime.
  • No Contest Plea: the plea of No Contest is not an admission of guilt, but is an admission of the truth of the facts alleged in the information or complaint, and such a plea of admission will not be used against the Defendant in any subsequent civil or criminal proceedings.
  • Not Guilty Pleathe plea of Not Guilty is a denial of legal guilt, and the case will be set for trial on a later date.

As soon as you arrive to your court hearing, you must check in at your scheduled time. It is important that you appear and to arrive prior to your scheduled time so that your have enough time to check in. If you fail to appear you may be assessed further court costs and a warrant for your arrest may be issued.

After check in, your case will be placed on the list of cases to be heard that day. There is no way to predict how long it will take for the court to hear all of the cases for that day, so it is important to be prepared to spend a few hours in court. 

Once your case is called to be heard by the court, both the prosecution and the defendant will have an opportunity to present their case to the court. The prosecutor will go first and will have at least one witness. The witness is usually an officer who issued the citation.  After the prosector asks the witness their questions, you will have an opportunity to as the witness questions as well. 

After the prosecution rests its case the defendant is given an opportunity to put his or her case on. The defendant could testify on his or her own behalf, but it is not required. Sometimes, defendants bring their own witnesses as well.  Since it is your only opportunity to tell your side of the story, it is important to bring all the evidence and witnesses you may have on that day. 

The prosecutor will have the opportunity to ask your witness questions after you have asked all of your questions.  After you have finished presenting your case the court will make a decision on your case.

Court costs cannot be waived if a person is found guilty, unless the court makes a determination that the person indigent. There may be additional costs incurred for subpoena fees, continuance fees, etc. These fees are in addition to standard costs.

Dublin Mayor's Court Penalties 

There are different penalties attached depending on the type of misdemeanor you are charged with. Below is the list of the maximum penalties assigned to each misdemeanor:

  • First Degree Misdemeanor (M-1)—Up to 6 months in jail and a fine up to $1,000.00
  • Second Degree Misdemeanor (M-2)—Up to 90 days in jail and a fine up to $750.00
  • Third Degree Misdemeanor (M-3)—Up to 60 days in jail and a fine up to $500.00
  • Fourth Degree Misdemeanor (M-4)—Up to 30 days in jail and a fine up to $250.00
  • Minor Misdemeanor (MM)—a fine up to $150.00
